Excellent Collar
Bought this product a few weeks ago to start a 6 month old lab with off tether retrieves. She has done great. Collar has worked wonders! Extremely easy to use and quality is top notch!

Good product but some cheap parts
We bought this unit a little over a year ago for a new puppy that we wanted to train to retrieve waterfowl. Shortly after, we decided to take advantage of the add-a-collar function and bought a second collar for our non-hunting dog. My first disappointment was that you lose the sound/tone option when you control more than one collar with the same transmitter, so are left with only the vibrate or shock options. My second disappointment was that a substantial amount of the camo coating chipped off AND the rubber plug that covers the charging port on the collar fell off and was lost, both after only a few uses. My third disappointment is that, barely a year later with light use, the transmitter no longer accepts a charge so I had to order a new one. The system works as advertised, but I am definitely disappointed with the quality and longevity of the materials used.

SPORTDOG RESPONSE: Hello Cristi, you actually can have the tone, static, and vibration for multiple dogs, you just need to change the mode on your transmitter. This is a super simple process than can be found in your manual. If you have any problems with it, just give us a call and we will walk you through it. We're not showing that you've ordered a replacement, but it's possible you are under warranty so we can help get you taken care of.

Overall very good- but one problem
I bought the 400 wetland version a few year ago to use in training my German Shorthaired Pointer. The unit works well and performs excellently. Very helpful in dog training in the yard and the field. I have trained my own GSP's since 1976 (I am on my 8th dog now + I have trained a few labs) and this really helps speed up the training process. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is on 12/23/14- I was training my 2 yr. old GSP female in the field and the handheld transmitter came unattached from the lanyard and got lost. How this could happen would only be because of the type of clip the lanyard comes with. My buddy and I hunted for 30 min. and could not find it- it is a camo pattern after all. I was going to buy just the transmitter but in reading the specs I saw the 425 (black color) recharges in 2 hours and has picked up a longer reach for the dogs. The specs indicate it is just as waterproof, just not a camo color. Especially because of the quicker re-charge I decided to order the new 425 and I will permanently attach the transmitter to the lanyard so I will never lose it again. Sport Dog should find a better more permanent attachment between the lanyard and the transmitter.
